Editorials, or styled shoots, are a sensitive topic in the wedding photography industry. There are a lot of opinions about them floating around. Some people don’t find value in them because they’re not “real,” but we actually disagree. We feel that they ARE real. They’re full of vendors coming together and showcasing their talent feels real to us and we love participating and planning them – and for us, it’s a great opportunity to show off our film wedding photography capabilities!
For those of you who don’t know what a styled shoot or a styled editorial is- It’s an event, typically taking place at a local venue where a lot of wedding vendors get together to showcase a certain aesthetic or upcoming wedding trend that they love. It’s also seen as a “mock” wedding shoot. These typically include a couple, wedding attire and accessories, paper goods, table settings, florals, a cake, and other details – all perfect for film wedding photography!
This shoot was the first one that we hosted. While photography is our strong suit, planning is not, so we reached out to Courtney from Rooted Together Events. We expressed our vision to her and she immediately loved it! She agreed to take the project on and she created the magic you see below. We’re so excited to share that these were 100% shot on medium format film. We used Fuji 400h and The Find Lab for our film scans.
This was first planned MONTHS ago- way before COVID was even a thing. We were so lucky that restrictions were lifted enough for us to practice safe social distancing during this shoot. The amazing and talented vendors are listed below. They all gave their time and talent to provide beautiful pieces to make this shoot happen.
We want to give a special thank you to Red Twig Farms for providing the hundreds of peonies and the property to host this shoot on. Peonies are Chelsey’s favorite flower AND her favorite flower to photograph. Enjoy!!
